The saga continues. The news seems to be the same, day, after day, after day. "The Trump's have stepped in some more of their own dodo." The group is a circus short of a couple of clowns. Their group is a half sandwich short of a picnic. They can't seem to walk and chew gum at the same time. Whatever cliche one chooses, they all seem to apply. Writing a blog is difficult. Especially when the news seems the same each day. Hence, I probably will take another turn away from "exposing" Trumps. Others seem to be doing a great job exposing the idiocy of the group. I've wanted to get my views of this politic travesty on record. I think that's accomplished.
As it plays out we will find the Trumps have, if not laundered money, had shady money entanglements with Russians. The Russian government is privy to these dealings and know they have power over the Trumps. The Russians help the Trumps win the election. Circling the wagons, the Trumps appoint only family and those involved with Russians to their inner circle. If they can keep their base, the Republican government can protect the Trumps. Once the inner circle starts unraveling there will be a circular firing squad like no other. Putin and his cronies will be organizing the firing squad. Bob Mueller will go down in history as the savior of our democracy. Remember though, I predicted Kasich and Rubio would be the Republican ticket in the 2016 general election.
We now await history to play out. I'm proud to say again, "We're on the right (correct) side of history."
So it goes.
Musings of an old man leaning politically left of Noam Chomsky and the late Howard Zinn, two of this old man's heroes. He realizes he can't change the world, or even change one mind, but, that doesn't mean he can't speak his mind. He wants to be on record to have been on the right side of history and have the right to say, "I told you so."

What Is True?
Now that we know Russia, Trump and others are placing false news in all media, one has to suspect all news. This is a new normal. It brings into question how much influence was false that we all used to make our decisions.
It's a sure bet conservatives won't believe articles in The Washington Post, New York Times, The Columbia Journalism Review and the like, but, these news gatherers do due diligence and require multiple sources prior to committing to an article.
I'm beginning to read other news gathers with an eye to, "when, who, what and why" prior to placing much trust in it. FoxNews is not the only name in the diversion game now. With powerful culprits planting stories to sway cultures one must use all available resources and intelligence to make judgements.
I confess prior to knowing stories were being planted to sway decisions, I fell into the rabbit warren. I'm happy to say, I eventually did realize what was happening and began questioning all news reports. Everyone pay attention. Not all news is accurate. So it goes.

Washing The Trump Laundry
For months I've been touting the Trump's laundering of money is what they're afraid of being exposed. This article indicates maybe they are aware of the power of the Bear and are truly afraid for their lives. A quote from the article - "What I believe I see here is an incredibly corrupt American family doing business with criminal gangs that are way, way out of their league, and that are in league with the institutions of government, and the formidable security apparatus, of an authoritarian state. Talk about punching out of your weight class. This isn't cheating some poor subcontractor. These people throw you out windows. And the Trumps have being doing business in this financial abattoir for years. This doesn't make them sharp. This makes them compliant minnows in a shark tank.
Not to borrow trouble, but what if these guys decide that the president's son—or, god forbid, the president himself—have become as inconvenient as Sergei Magnitsky was. For months now, people have been asking what the Russians "have" on Donald Trump. Maybe it's just fear. If it's not, it ought to be."
So it goes.

Obama's Russian Meddling Quandary Prior To Election
Good article trying to explain the election meddling by Russia. A running theme is - it was a serious breach of our election, but with a HRC win, which was almost certain prior to Russian meddling, there was plenty of time to investigate and correct after the election. Surprisingly, the Russian meddling worked and a buffoon was elected. That throws a monkey wrench in the investigation which is what we are going through now. "The post-election period has been dominated by the overlapping investigations into whether Trump associates colluded with Russia before the election and whether the president sought to obstruct the FBI probe afterward. That spectacle has obscured the magnitude of Moscow’s attempt to hijack a precious and now vulnerable-seeming American democratic process." Vridar.blogspot.com

Russian's Voting Manipulation
As more information comes out, it appears Russia intermingled voter data with social media data and manipulated voter's minds into voting for Russia's favorite boy, Trump. I would hate to think my mind and my thinking could be manipulated by thugs to vote for a buffoon. But, I'm not a fan of fake wrestling and cage fighting, either.🤓😑

Duped Trump Supporters
This article indicates Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania voters were duped into voting for Trump by Russian bots. Looking back, would one not feel like a fool if they were duped into voting for a buffoon by the Russians. I blame fully the current political landscape on voters who were not privy enough to distinguish between a statesperson and a Russian puffed buffoon.
Follow The Money
This article reiterates my mantra of "follow the money." "Finally, we know that Mueller’s investigators are also looking for “any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates,” as The Post phrased it. It goes without saying that discovering any money flows between Trump campaign officials or advisers and Russian government-linked individuals or institutions would be explosive."
This article indicates Robert Mueller is hiring money laundering investigators. "The deputy attorney general has appointed a special counsel, Robert Mueller, who is busily hiring experts in money laundering." This article also succinctly lays out the current situation in which the administration finds itself.

"We don’t know whether these activities, not the purported collusion with the Russians during the campaign, were the source of Trump — and Kushner’s — angst about letting Comey proceed with his investigation." - A WaPo.com article

Trump-Russia Money Connections
In recent posts I've harped on "follow the money." There is a reason for Trump's stonewalling releasing taxes, resisting investigation of his associates, etc. Collecting and connecting the dots there appears to be a cover up of his Russian, Sicilian banking connections. There no doubt are interactions Trump doesn't want in the light of day. Most likely these interactions will expose some illegal transactions that might expose him, his family, and/or his associates to criminal charges. Would he possibly be also exposed to Russian manipulations if Putin was aware of illegal transactions? If these investigations come to fruition prior to his resignation, he will be exposed for what he is, a conman and, if not a criminal, at least a very dishonest evil, greedy man. Let's hope this man can be put in his place, beit prison or the history books as the worst of the recent Republican politicians along with his family and cronies Ryan, McConnell, et. al.

Hate!
"Hate" is a word I've refrained from using. My father used curse words but didn't allow his children to use them. "Hate" was, if not a curse word, a strong word frowned upon. It still rings true to me, almost worse than the "f-word." However, I've started using it describing the actions of this administration. Not the people in the administration, but, the actions of the administration. I hate almost everything this administration stands for, the greed, power, ignorance, anti-intellectualism, isolationalism, rasism, etc.
The dislike I harbor is also for those who make unjust accusations of the Obamas. I've had to block people on FaceBook for their anti-Obama remarks. They can't look past the color of the skin, xenophobia at its zenith. The Obama family is the premiere example of Americanism. There were no scandals , they are educated by the best universities, their children are exemplary with great futures. If you hold the above against them for being good people, that might say something about you. There is no comparison between the honorable past president and our current administration. Can you imagine the outrage if President Obama would have said the following? So much for the indignant righteous. Can you honestly look in the mirror and say you respect the person looking back if you respect the person saying the following? If so, I'm sorry for you.
I'm copying a FB post of a good friend. She is quoting verbatim YOUR president. If you think this is acceptable conversation, I pity you.
"Just a reminder of the words of the 45th President: “I did try and fuck her. She was married… I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn't get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she's not got the big phony tits and everything... I've got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful. I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” - Donald Trump, The 45th President of the United States."

Confirmation Bias
Why can we not come to a conscensous, agreement or change our political minds? "Why? A common explanation is confirmation bias. This is the psychological tendency to favor information that confirms our beliefs and to disfavor information that counters them — a tendency manifested in the echo chambers and “filter bubbles” of the online world." This NYT article answers some of my concerns.

Saudi Arabia's Bet On Privatizing Infrastructure
The Saudis are betting huge amounts of money the US infrastructure and monuments are up for sale. Has anyone heard the phrase, "To Hell in a hand basket?" The great part of this story, we live in an area the foreigners will have no interest in buying. They may buy the farm lands, but I can't imagine them wanting our two-lane pot-hole pocked roads and deteriating bridges. We will continue free access here in the wilderness. However, they may buy Weaverville and Asheville, NC. We'll see.

Country Divided, Brothers Divided
An exchange on FaceBook recently brought to mind how our country is divided. I have been estranged from my brothers for over a decade due to political differences when Bush/Cheney invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. My contention at the time was wrong countries for wrong reasons. We left it that we would know truths in 20 years. And we parted company to not have contact since. It took less than 10 years to know the invasions were misguided.
My feelings now are the country is in another misguided administration which is hell bent to punish the underprivileged and give government breaks to the greedy rich. I blog and post on FaceBook almost daily news I feel contribute to the discourse dear to me.
Back to the exchange on FaceBook and a divided country. My conservative brother I've refused contact with for years over the Bush invasion recently commented on one of my shared FB memes -"Jesus Christ Ron--- Grow the F---- up. What hell is the matter with you." This contact reminds me the conservative side of the political system is not bending, even with all the news concerning Russian collusion, the administration's tax benefits for the rich, the dissolving of the EPA, the privatizing of the public education system, the threat of privatization of public assets, removing safety nets, etc. Maybe farfetched, but can you imagine a corporation buying the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, or Yosemite? Or, even the Washington Monument?
The country is divided almost as much as it was during the civil war. When brothers are pitted against each other we are almost beyond divided. My brother once told me he was coming down to punch me in the nose. This exchange was over whether President Obama was serializing bullets. The president was not ever serializing bullets or threatening gun ownership. I told him if he thought that would settle things, I'd let him punch me and we'd go our separate ways. That's the epitome of aggression and pacifism. My brotherly relationships are beyond repair. I'm thinking of lowering my profile. My nose at this age is tender and may not heal. I am hoping the countries divisions are not beyond healing.

Impeachment Is A Political Process, Not Necessarily A Criminal Process
So far, by and large, they [Republicans] have ― shielding him [Trump] from inquiries on everything from Russia to his tax returns ― perhaps because they believe his continued presence in the White House offers their best opportunity to pass their legislative agenda, or perhaps because they are not yet ready to openly challenge a party leader who retains the enthusiastic support of so many Republican voters. Roger Ailes founded a news network but never claimed to be a journalist. As the most successful political communicator of his time, he had a different objective: turn talking points into news items for millions of persuadable eyeballs. He leaves behind a nation that feels very strongly about what we think we know, and is woefully, willfully ignorant of anything that doesn’t fit the picture.

Ailes, O'Reilly, Trump Are Soon To All Be A Thing Of The Past
Recent years the political process has been directed toward division for greed. Ailes, O'Reilly and Trump have reaped millions from their shenanigans. A certain amount of Karma has been dealt.
"In this sense, his [Ailes'] Fox News broadcasts were just extended versions of the old "ring around the collar" ad – scare stories about contagion. Wisk was pitched as the cure for sweat stains creeping onto your crisp white collar; Fox was sold as the cure for atheists, feminists, terrorists and minorities crawling over your white picket fence."

Ryan Is Spineless and Trump Is a 6 Year Old
"I’m sure we’re going to want to hear from Mr. Comey about why, if this happened as he allegedly describes, why didn’t he take action at the time." - Ryan
He did take action, he took notes, handed them over to subordinates, and continued the investigation into obstruction of justice.
"National Security Council officials have strategically included Trump’s name in “as many paragraphs as we can because he keeps reading if he’s mentioned,” according to one source, who relayed conversations he had with NSC officials." -

Leakers Are Talking To Protect The Presidency, Right!
This article insinuates a WH loyalist is leaking scandalist information on Trump to get him to correct his ways. That can be, but, if so there are more appropriate and constitutionally correct ways to correct this problem. It's absolutely amazing the lack of character we have for leaders. From the house, senate and in this administration, there doesn't seem anyone willing to stand up against the crazy 96% supporters of this administration. Someone needs to fall on the sword and at least attempt to rectify this ineptness.

Trump Is Still Campaigning? Not Really
News reports of Trump still campaigning are missing the point. He is rallying his populists to show the GOP they had better toe the line or get "primaried." He's maintaining his loyal Dunning-Kruger Effect voters and he needs to verify that with his congress. When the threat of removal from office comes, he can rally those populists to keep enough legislators in line.
He also has appointed a commission to study illegal voting. That's a ruse for finding ways to suppress voting even further. He is quite aware he lost the popular vote, but still refers to winning it to dupe those unaware. If he can convince voters to stay in line, he can convince legislators to stay in line. There are many things in play here. Voters like to be winners. He keeps convincing his supporters how much of a winner he is. His bellicose remarks nobody believes except the 96% still supporting him. He is the "best, biggest, most wonderful, richest, bigliest, etc" in his and his supporters' eyes. As long as he keeps each group convinced, he will not be impeached. He needs only 218 from the house to keep from being impeached and only 34 from the senate to keep from being convicted. Those are pretty good odds against Trump being impeached let alone convicted.

GOP Is In Trump's Back Pocket
On Meet The Press Sunday, Graham, who’s said he’s on such good terms with the president that he gets calls even when he’s asleep... is an example of who I thought was a Senator to get us out of this mess. He proves to be spineless. McCain is another. McConnell? This second article tells his story.
In another article the author draws out the case how Trump is stacking the deck with inept, loyalists preparing for the war over his control (think impeachment process) bound to come. My money has been on impeachment. Reading now how Trump is bullying the spineless GOP, I'm changing my bet. The populist voters, 96% still support him, assures the GOP will do little to get us out of this mess. Thanks to the Dunning-Kruger incompetent voters.
Here's another article concerning inept congress - "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: “Our Democratic colleagues [are] complaining about the removal of an FBI director whom they themselves repeatedly and sharply criticized. That removal [is] being done by a man, Rod Rosenstein, who they repeatedly and effusively praised.” Senator David Perdue of Georgia: “President Trump acted decisively and within his authority, and I stand behind him.” Chuck Grassley of Iowa noted “concern from across the political spectrum and from career law enforcement experts,” Lindsey Graham of South Carolina gamely suggested that “a fresh start will serve the FBI and the nation well.” "
On another subject, Callista Gingrich's appointment as Vatican ambassador is a thumb in the pope's eye for accusing Trump of not being a Christian.

Not Paying Attention?
Folks, there is not much more that can be said about the ineptness, callousness, greediness, or any number of other adjectives of this administration or GOP controlled congress. If you couldn't understand the problems prior to their election, surely you can now. If not you're either not paying attention or you're just as complicit as this bunch of crooks. Or, just plain stupid and calling 64 million voters stupid is quite a stretch, even for me.
There are many articles analyzing the Trump/Comey experience and this article is a good, succinct article. My belief is the financial dealings investigation is at the vortex of Trump's concerns. "The Senate Intelligence Committee also has asked a Treasury Department office that investigates financial crimes for information related to Trump associates or people related to his campaign, said Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.), the vice chairman of the committee."

Hello, Ms. Huckabee-Sanders, Goodbye Mr. Spicer
A friend suggested the Groper-In-Charge's press secretary, Mr. Sean Spicer, might be usurped by his subordinate, Ms. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders. I'm in agreement. From the get-go I have almost been embarrassed for Mr. Spicer. From his first press conference it appeared someone had told him to "go out and take charge." (Think SNL early press skits) He made a fool of himself and continued through last night's "hiding" in a hedge avoiding questions. One can view his press conferences in chronological order and see his loss of control and confidence, if there ever was any. Also, I'm not sure he's totally in the GIC's camp. My take is when asked a question he has to think how he is supposed to answer according to instructions as opposed to answering how he honestly feels or what he honestly knows. He can't do the job under that stress. Ms. Huckabee-Sanders has the mentality of the GIC and her father. She will do better at this job.

He's Inept!
Many of us feared during the campaign that Trump would be a threat to democracy, operating outside the Constitution, using demagoguery to turn white Americans against immigrants and religious and racial minorities. That hasn’t happened, though not for lack of trying on Trump’s part. His instincts are authoritarian, but the Trump presidency has been one pratfall after another. He has proved to be a blundering bully and an inept autocrat.

On The Right Side?
When I question if I'm on the right side of history, I remember I'm on the side of Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, CK Lewis, Stephen King, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Samantha Bee, Chelsey Handler, Jimmy Kimmel, Nancy Pelosi, Rob Reiner, Carl Reiner, Robert Reich, John Oliver, Dan Rather, Ezra Klein, Jane Mayer, Collin Powell, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Trevor Noah, Jesus before he became Christ, Joy Pantelis, Judy Kenney, Judy Reha, Michelle Fletchall, Alyssa Smith, Michael Girratono, and John Richmond. Not bad company.
He Doesn't Know What He Doesn't Know

I Believe In Science
I Do Believe in Science.
Not, necessarily, in what Science defines as "truth" in any given moment, because that is as changeable as the rest of the Universe.
I believe in the Process; the search, according to the best-formulated rules for avoiding error (currently represented by scientific method).
It is no accident that the practice of Science is largely indistinguishable from the practice of aesthetics; a lot of hard, self-disciplined, often drearily repetitive work in the quest for something new and significant. Only the specific techniques differ.
Both of these best of human endeavors make use of the best -- and least manageable -- elements of human "nature;" our curiosity and our drive for new experience --novelty. Creativity is the final element and it is frustratingly deficient in most of us.
Why do so many intelligent people engage in "extreme" sports or voluntarily undertake life-threatening challenges? I believe they are as driven toward novelty as Picasso or Proust or Pasteur, but they don't have any particular aesthetic (or scientific) talent.
Is it revealing that when Hemingway, at only about 60, realized that he couldn't do it any more (or imagined he couldn't, which is the same thing), he checked out with a shotgun? -- Franklin Mosier (www.rogthefrog.com/rr)

Smart and Stupid
Paraphrasing Kaptah in Mika Waltari's The Egyptian, there may not always be rich and poor, fat and skinny, power and weakness, religion and skepticism, but there will always be smart and stupid.
The smart will always take advantage of the stupid. Should the smart not provide for the stupid?

Can We Ignore This Presidency?
Kathleen Parker's article suggests the normalization of this presidency. I confess I'm bored with it also. He's like the bully on the playground, eventually you get used to him and the best way to handle him is to ignore him. The below Kathy Kay quote and Parker's and my suggestion to ignore the buffoon is not what governing the world needs. However, if we are to survive this administration we'll have to.
Perhaps, as the BBC’s Katty Kay tweeted Friday, “Trump talks in superlatives. We should all get used to that. It doesn’t mean he acts in superlatives too.” While likely so, some thanks are owed to Congress for applying the brakes on his bigger initiatives. What Kay’s comment really suggests, however, is profoundly distressing: We have a president who should be ignored.

Citizens Will Not Be Beating Pots And Pans In Protest If Conservatives Continue
My friend, Carol, once suggested we will not have needed political change until people are beating pots and pans on the street corners. That was her metaphor for no change will take place until the people protest in revolt -- think Boston Tea Party.
According to this article, the red states are shoring up their laws so this revolt can't happen. No way would I suggest illegal actions, but, legal, non-violent protests cannot be legislated out of existence in the US. States' legislating against free speech is surely unconstitutional and their laws should be struck down. These red state bullies just keep pushing until Carol's revolt will take place. That is if it's not illegal by then to beat pots and pans on the street corners.
Maybe we should be collecting our wooden spoons and pots and pans on the corners right now.

Positive Thoughts?
Reading my posts makes me aware how cynical and negative they appear. This brings up the question of patriotism. Are criticisms unpatriotic? Does one have to be positive to be patriotic? Does one have to be militaristic to be patriotic? Does one have to stand, put hand over heart and sing along with the national anthem? Or is one only honoring tradition by performing the above? Or, is a person patriotic by desiring things to be better?
Arguments have been made that serving in the Vietnam Conflict was more patriotic than opposing the conflict. That's a tough one. Is honoring those who served or those who opposed it patriotic? Is support of the opposition to the war patriotic? Is support of aggressive actions in the Middle East to ensure our energy sources patriotic? I'm not sure.
Is being critical of the political process unpatriotic? I'm suggesting it is not unpatriotic. In fact, I'm suggesting being critical furthers the political process in that it creates positive discussion. One can post only positive thoughts but does that promote discussion? If criticism is negative, I'll continue to be negative.
Is this article by Michael Gerson an unpatriotic, negative, critical article or a necessary critique of our current administration?
I think I will leave the posting of positive thoughts to the reverent and I'll continue critically prodding the politicians.

Executive Order Accomplishments
This article attests to Trumps accomplishments, or, rather, lack of, but also explains the significance of executive orders. They are not the rigid resolutions we've been led to believe. An interesting article in that it gives a realistic perspective of what he's accomplished. Not as much as I'd presumed. The worst of his accomplishments is the loss of world respect. Others are his nominations of unqualified cabinet members.
Interestingly Wiki states,
"Major policy initiatives require approval by the legislative branch, but executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree legislation will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging wars, and in general fine-tuning policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes."
Doesn't this amount to a resolution or memo to the federal agencies that implement policies within statutes, regulations and laws of congress? Executive orders don't change law, they just define how the executive branch requires implementation within the law.
"This is more work than I...thought."
Trump thought running the world would be simpler than his previous life. He found he can't just claim bankruptcy and walk away. He can't even break up a 9th district Federal court. Who would have thought? Probably most public school 6th graders would have known. I'm not sure if home schooled 6th graders would have known. The home-schoolers can tell when the apocalypse is coming, however. And, that may be closer now than the rest of us would like. The conservative climate-change-deniers are helping the final days progress. Thank the lord.

Trump's Tax Proposal Will Grab 'Merica
Trump is an amalgam of Reagan and Bush 43rd. Trump has Reagan's non-existent understanding of economics and Bush's misguided patriotism and ability to rally the conservative, greedy masses behind his flag waving militaristic platitudes.
Trickle down economics has been tried by Reagan and Bush with disastrous results. Brownback tried it in Kansas with devastating results.
'Merica First. Grab 'em by the genitals. Trump has grabbed 'Merica by the genitals now. He has a tight hold. What kind of stupid has a hold on us? The G-I-C's tax proposal will grab 'Merica right where it hurts. In the deficit.
The Congressional Research Service reviewed tax cuts since 1945 and found no evidence they generate economic growth. Bill Clinton raised taxes and the economy created more jobs than it did under Bush 43rd or Reagan. Conservatives will not put faith in history, science, surveys, statistics. They simply go against any intelligence.

Conservatives Refuse to Accept Intelligence
Many things conservatives refuse to accept are proposed by professors, teachers, historians, scientists, pollsters, editorialists, archaeologists, etc. These people are the trained intelligent elites and academicians of the world. If the Conservative Republicans can't accept the theories and facts of the intelligencia of the world, why have schools and universities and teachers and professors? Maybe we can home school the way we like. Teach metaphysics instead of physics. Teach preferences instead of hypotheses and theories. We can revert back to caveman times with the strongest, dumbest and the most reverend making decisions for the rest of us. We have a great head start with the Groper-In-Charge, McConnell, and Ryan as our caveman leaders.
Betsy DeVos can be implementor for this new dumbing down policy of the cavemen leaders.

20% Corporate Tax Reduction
A 20% corporate tax reduction is proposed with The Groper-In-Charge's tax reduction proposal. Do these idiots never learn money can not be increased by lowering revenues? Less is never more. Basic stupidity. Is there no sanity in Washington, DC?

Trump Voters Aren't Getting What They Voted For
So far not one thing the Trump voters were promised has come to pass. No halting Muslim immigration. No wall, never will be. It's stupid to even consider. There will be a tax relief bill, but not for his voting base, just for his donor base. No end to ISIS. Please list his campaign promises. I couldn't follow his narrative as it was such a mish-mash word salad. If he promised something and he fulfilled the promise, I need to know. Make a comment below.
He has not only failed some promises, but has broken some. The biggest broken are his promises to not take time off, to release his tax filings, to divest holdings, and almost every other promise. Folks, if you're happy with this imbecile bufoon, you must be very similar in character.

New Beginnings
My blogging has suffered. FaceBook has taken my time recently. This has been futile. Only friends, which I refer to as my echo chamber members, seem to follow what I'm following.
I've tried various blogging topics not finding one to keep my interest. My FaceBook postings seem to focus on current politics, political history and the religions. Those topics can offend followers and I fear initiate blocking or unfriending.
My thought now is blogging gives every individual an opportunity to view and participate with comments without the exposure on FaceBook.
Hence, I'll try this for awhile to see if there are comments and viewers.

The Purpose of Belief…
…assuming that anything has purpose, is to provide the individual believer with hope of a future which will be, at very least, no worse than the present. For most believers, in most religions, the most important thing is not the Faith but the Orthodoxy.
